Via G. Acitelli, 22 - 67100 Assergi (AQ)

Angelantoni Test Technologies took part in the visit to the Gran Sasso-INFN National Laboratories, organized by the European House Ambrosetti on 22nd June 2018.

The Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) was founded in 2012 as an international PhD School and Center of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). In 2016 it was established as a School of Advanced Studies providing post-graduate education.

The visit to the Gran Sasso Science Institute was followed by a visit to the Gran Sasso-INFN National Laboratories, the largest underground laboratories in the world where experiments are carried out on particle physics, particle astrophysics and nuclear astrophysics.
The 1400 meters of rock above them reduce the flow of cosmic rays and the flow of neutrons is thousands of times lower than the surface, thanks to the minimum percentage of Uranium and Torio present in the rock.

During the visit the main research topics of the current program were illustrated. The program is conducted by over 1000 scientists from 25 different countries in the three large experimental rooms, each measuring approximately 100 m in length, 20 m in width and 18 m in length. height and service tunnel, for a total volume of about 180,000 cubic meters. The rooms are located on one side of a 10 km long motorway tunnel that crosses the Gran Sasso, towards Teramo-Rome.
